Jane’s Walk festival is a series of free, guided‐walking tours that brings
communities together by putting them in touch with each other and their
neighbourhoods. These walks were initiated by some friends and colleagues of
Jane Jacobs in memory of her inspiring ideas and approach to neighbourhoods
and cities. Jacobs argued that cities are only successful when they are created
for the people, by the people. Jane’s Walk festival is taking place internationally
over the weekend of Friday May 2nd, Saturday May 3rd and Sunday May
4th across Canada and in cities around the world.
Walks are taking place near your neighbourhood. In particular, one is taking
place in taking place in Jack Darling Park on Saturday May 3rd. The walk begins
at 10:30am and ends at 11:45am. We would really benefit from having members
of Mississauga Rate Payers Association in the mix!
